LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Laurette J. Pitts upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
honoring the 2015 Professional Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Laurette J. Pitts has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Laurette J.
Pitts upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring the 2015 Professional Women and
Women in Business; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Hammonton High School in Atlantic County, New
Jersey, Laurette J. Pitts earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting
from Stockton State College in Pomona, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Laurette J. Pitts furthered her education by obtaining her
Master's degree in Business Administration from Metropolitan State
University in St. Paul, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Twenty-three years ago, Laurette J. Pitts began her career
with Empire Resorts, parent company of Monticello Casino and Raceway, as
Chief Financial Officer; today, she also holds the leadership positions
of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; and
WHEREAS, In this role, Laurette J. Pitts enjoys getting to know her
guests and mentoring her employees; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which she lives and works,
Laurette J. Pitts has been a vital member of several non-profit boards
of directors, and likes to help out at local events in Sullivan, Pike
and Wayne Counties; and
WHEREAS, When she is not working at Monticello Casino and Raceway,
Laurette J. Pitts enjoys skiing in the winter and spending time with her
family on Lake Wallenpaupack during the summer; she also takes pleasure
in watching her children's various sporting and musical events; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 21 years, David,
her two children, Shane and Hayley; all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Laurette J. Pitts has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Laurette J. Pitts upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring the 2015
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laurette J. Pitts.
