LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette
upon the occasion of his 20th Pastoral Anniversary to be celebrated on
May 26, 2016

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish them-
selves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preemi-
nence of service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Reverend
Dr. Eric Charles Mallette upon the occasion of his 20th Pastoral Anni-
versary to be celebrated at a formal evening of elegance held in his
honor on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Milleridge Inn, Jericho, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Eric Charles Mallette has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, An amazing preacher and a loving friend, The Reverend Dr.
Eric Charles Mallette has served as the co-Pastor and Pastor of The
Greater Second Baptist Church in Freeport, New York, for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the New York Theological Seminary Eastern
Baptist School of Religion in Christian Ministry, The Reverend Dr. Eric
Charles Mallette furthered his education by majoring in Psychology at
Adelphi University; he later received his Honorary Doctorate of Divinity
degree from the National Theological Seminary at the University of St.
Louis; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette was ordained
a preacher in the Gospel Ministry by his father, The Reverend Dr. E.
Mitchell Mallette; and
WHEREAS, From 1989 through 1996, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles
Mallette held the position of Adjunct Pastor at The Greater Second
Baptist Church; in 1996, he was elected co-Pastor with his father, a
title he held for two years until his father passed away and he became
the Church's fifth Pastor on June 26, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as Pastor of The Greater Second Baptist
Church, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette has not only preached the
Word of God, but has also served as Executive Assistant to the Town of
Hempstead Town Board, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the
Liberty Park Housing Authority; he is a vital contributor to the commu-
nity and made history as being the first African American Chaplain in
the Incorporated Village of Freeport Police and Fire Departments; and
WHEREAS, In addition, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette currently
serves on the Village of Freeport Police Block Grant Committee, Board of
Ethics and as Vice Chairman of the Commission on Human Relations Commit-
tee; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette is active in the
Empire Missionary Baptist Convention, and serves as Vice President of
Area No. 7 which includes Nassau and Suffolk Counties; he also held the
position of President of the Young Minister's Division; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Eastern Baptist Association of New York
Inc., The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette formerly served as the
Assistant Recording Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and

was formerly Vice Moderator for the Eastern Baptist Association, Nassau
County; and
WHEREAS, On March 4, 2001, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette was
bestowed the title of Lifetime Pastor of The Greater Second Baptist
Church by a unanimous vote of the entire membership; since that time, he
has started several new ministries and fortified existing ones; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette has tremendous love
for his work and his commitment to the Lord is exemplified by his teach-
ings and actions; he is a devoted, dedicated Pastor who loves his Church
and congregation; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette, noting his unremitting
and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legis-
lative Body for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Reverend Dr. Eric Charles Mallette.
