LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Mark J. Colmerauer, Hamburg
Village Trustee, family man, and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of Mark J. Colmerauer, a preeminent citizen
whose distinguished public service and caring commitment will long serve
as a standard to which others might aspire; and
WHEREAS, Mark J. Colmerauer of Hamburg, New York, died on Wednesday,
April 6, 2016, at the age of 45; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 13, 1970, in Buffalo, New York, Mark J.
Colmerauer graduated from Hamburg High School in 1988; after graduating,
he earned his Bachelor's degree in Geophysics from the State University
of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Mark J. Colmerauer distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, For numerous years, Mark J. Colmerauer was employed at C&S
Companies, where he held the esteemed title of Department Manager of
Environmental Services; in this capacity, he and his team led the envi-
ronmental remediation of the Conventus site, helping it achieve LEED
Platinum Certification and win an award from the American Council of
Engineering Companies; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mark J. Colmerauer and his team worked at the
HarborCenter project, managing the environmental brownfield cleanup for
the site adjacent to First Niagara Center; and
WHEREAS, Mark J. Colmerauer's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which he lived and worked, Mark
J. Colmerauer served on the village Environmental Commission for five
years; in December of 2009, he was appointed Hamburg Village Trustee;
the following year, he was elected to the position, and was re-elected
to his second term in 2014; and
WHEREAS, As a Trustee, Mark J. Colmerauer was involved in a number of
initiatives, including overseeing the counting and cataloging of the
village's 3,300 trees; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his job and village responsibilities, Mark J.
Colmerauer served as a coach for Hamburg Youth Lacrosse and the Hamburg
Hawks Hockey Organization; and
WHEREAS, Mark J. Colmerauer is survived by his wife, the former Joanne
Staby; his daughter, Kate; his son, Brian; two brothers, Michael and
Matthew; and one sister, Susan; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Mark J. Colmerauer leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Mark J. Colmerauer, Hamburg Village Trustee, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Mark J. Colmerauer.
