LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim May 1, 2016, as Infertility Survival Day in the State of New
York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize official
days that are set aside to increase awareness of challenges such as
infertility that affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 1, 2016, as Infertility
Survival Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the obser-
vance of National Infertility Survival Day; and
WHEREAS, National Infertility Survival Day, an unofficial national
holiday, was created by Beverly Barna, author of INFERTILITY SUCKS!
KEEPING IT ALL TOGETHER WHEN SPERM AND EGG STUBBORNLY REMAIN APART; and
WHEREAS, Each year on the Sunday prior to Mother's Day, National
Infertility Survival Day is observed to celebrate the hard work and
effort couples struggling with infertility put towards trying to
conceive a child; and
WHEREAS, With an emphasis on self-care and celebrating the positive
aspects of one's life, National Infertility Survival Day is also a day
for friends and family to help lift the spirits of a loved one coping
with infertility; and
WHEREAS, It is imperative that there be greater awareness of infertil-
ity, and more must be done to increase activity at the local, state and
national levels; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 1, 2016, as Infer-
tility Survival Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York.
