LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc.
of Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the 2014 Special Service Recognition of the Year Award by the Genesee
County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. of Batavia, New York, upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Special Service
Recognition of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS, Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. is a community-based, volun-
teer organization dedicated to assisting cancer patients and their fami-
lies; they strive to improve quality of life while helping to diminish
suffering through its services and financial support; and
WHEREAS, This worthy organization's mission is to educate patients
with the necessary knowledge and information with regard to their diag-
nosis; alleviate or lessen the impact of the difficulties experienced by
cancer patients, their families, and other caregivers; provide support
to families and providers; serve as a patient advocate; and enhance
delivery of appropriate services; and
WHEREAS, Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc., along with its Treasurer,
Joe Gerace, provide assistance to relieve the financial burden caused by
cancer; they operate solely on funds raised by volunteers to benefit
area patients in Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. is present in
its community to give non-medical informational resources regarding
cancer, such as pamphlets and brochures; they are also instrumental in
helping patients and families cope with the emotional, physical, and
financial difficulties caused by cancer, as well as offer educational
seminars throughout the year for early detection of breast cancer; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. has designed a
free monthly program to help with hair loss, skin changes, and provide
useful ideas for make-up application; and
WHEREAS, The volunteers of Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. provide
free biblical counseling services for cancer patients and their fami-
lies; this service is designed to offer hope during the difficult season
of cancer with the desire to encourage, equip, and empower those
affected by this illness; and
WHEREAS, Other services provided by the Genesee Cancer Assistance,
Inc. include home health care services, financial assistance for equip-
ment and prosthetics, and transportation to cancer related treatments or
appointments; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend those
organizations and individuals who work to serve the health care needs of
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of
Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. in providing excellence in care through
assistance, education and treatment, and its evident commitment to this
mission; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. of Batavia, New York, upon

the occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Special Service
Recognition of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc. and Treasurer Joe Gerace.
