LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Marion Casey upon the occasion of
being named Coach of the Year by the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
notable athletic coaches within our midst who serve the youth of this
great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves and their
schools through their exemplary athletic achievements and their
outstanding commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Marion Casey upon the occasion of being named Coach of the Year by the
POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL; and
WHEREAS, During the 2015-2016 season, Coach Marion Casey lead her
Marlboro High School Iron Dukes Basketball team to an outstanding 22-3
record, including her team's first Mid-Hudson Athletic League title in
30 years, and its first trip to the New York State Final Four in 32
years; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Coach Marion Casey guided the Iron Dukes to a
impressive 54-35 win over Spackenkill in the Section 9 Class B final,
and an upset victory over perennial Section 1 powerhouse Irvington,
61-60, in the regional semifinals; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, this esteemed leader has
done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the team members
toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marion Casey's positive attitude, selfless commitment,
goal-oriented and balanced approach to instruction, on top of her genu-
ine concern for her athletes have contributed to her enduring success as
a coach and mentor at Marlboro High School , earning her the just
respect of her community and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when athletic
coaches of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Marion Casey upon the occasion of being named Coach of the Year
by the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marion Casey.
