LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Angelique Figueroa upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscho-
lastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Angelique
Figueroa upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Angelique Figueroa has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Angelique Figueroa, a student at Valley Central High School
in Montgomery, New York, is ranked 28th in her class with a 95 GPA; she
participated in numerous sports including basketball, softball, and
soccer, where she served as team captain; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society, Angelique Figueroa plans
to attend Pennsylvania State University and major in biomedical engi-
neering; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Angelique Figueroa enjoys volun-
teering her time and energy at the local Humane Society and nursing
home; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Angelique
Figueroa has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Angelique Figueroa may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Angelique Figueroa represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Angelique Figueroa upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Asso-
ciation as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Angelique Figueroa.
