LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alisa Vasquez upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Alisa Vasquez
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Alisa Vasquez has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Alisa Vasquez, a student at Washingtonville High School in
Washingtonville, New York, is ranked 27th in her class with a 96 GPA;
she participated in numerous sports including indoor and outdoor track,
where she served as team captain; and
WHEREAS, Well-liked by her peers, Alisa Vasquez holds the title of
President of the Student Council, and is a Safe School Ambassador; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society, Alisa Vasquez plans to
attend either Pennsylvania State University or Syracuse University and
major in communications, while specializing in broadcast journalism; and
WHEREAS, A faithful member of the Christian Faith Fellowship Family
Church, Alisa Vasquez serves as a Youth Group Leader; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Alisa Vasquez enjoys volunteering
her time and energy at the Country Kids Food Pantry; in addition, she
assists with Operation Prom, and the Wounded Warrior Project, and is the
Ambassador for the Capital Region of Girls Inc.; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Alisa Vasquez
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Alisa Vasquez may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Alisa Vasquez represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alisa Vasquez upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alisa Vasquez.
