LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sean Hofving upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sean Hofving
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Sean Hofving has distinguished
himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Sean Hofving, a student at Newburgh Free Academy, is ranked
70th in his class with a 93.09 GPA; he participated in several sports
including football and baseball (Captain); and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society, Science Honor Society,
and Spanish Honor Society, Sean Hofving was also involved with the
Youth-in-Government Club, the School Leadership Team, and served as
Senior Class President; he plans to attend college and major in business
or pre-law; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Sean Hofving enjoys giving of his
time and energy as a volunteer for the Newburgh Sports Clinic and Sacred
Heart Altar Service; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Sean Hofving
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Sean Hofving may stand with pride in his achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, Sean Hofving represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sean Hofving upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sean Hofving.
