LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Olivia St. Amand upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscho-
lastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Olivia St.
Amand upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Olivia St. Amand has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Olivia St. Amand, a graduating senior at John S. Burke
Catholic High School in Goshen, New York, is ranked 5th in her class
with a 97 GPA; she plans to continue her education at Cornell University
where she will major in international business; and
WHEREAS, Co-president of The National Honor Society, Olivia St. Amand
also participates in soccer and softball; in addition, she is a youth
counselor and service trip volunteer; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Olivia St.
Amand has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Olivia St. Amand may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Olivia St. Amand represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Olivia St. Amand upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Olivia St. Amand.
