LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Peyton Atkins upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Peyton Atkins
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Peyton Atkins has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Peyton Atkins, a student at Goshen Senior High School in
Goshen, New York, has earned a 99.56 GPA, played in the High School
Band, and has held positions in Student Government as Treasurer and Vice
President of the Student Senate; and
WHEREAS, On the field and on the court, Peyton Atkins has participated
in soccer, basketball, and softball; she was elected Softball Captain,
and achieved recognition as a two-time Varsity845 Soccer First-Team
All-Star, and Varsity845 Softball First-Team All-Star; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society and the World Language
Honor Society, Peyton Atkins is active in her community teaching sports
to children with disabilities, and volunteering for Beautiful People and
at the Humane Society as well as animal hospitals; she plans to attend
college and major in biology and pre-veterinary medicine with a minor in
Spanish while playing softball; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Peyton Atkins
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Peyton Atkins may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Peyton Atkins represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Peyton Atkins upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Peyton Atkins.
