LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leslie S. Lockwood upon the occasion of
her retirement after almost 24 years of distinguished service to the
United States Probation Department in the Eastern District of New York,
on May 31, 2016
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, For almost 24 years, Leslie S. Lockwood rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the United States Probation
Department in the Eastern District of New York; and
WHEREAS, On June 1, 1992, Leslie S. Lockwood began her illustrious
career with the United States Probation Department in the Eastern
District of New York, which oversees Richmond, Kings, Queens, Nassau,
and Suffolk Counties; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Leslie S. Lockwood has served as both
an Officer and Supervisor in the Presentence Investigations Unit of this
Judicial District; in this capacity, she has prepared and reviewed thou-
sands of presentence reports relevant to the sentencing of federal
defendants in the district; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Leslie S. Lockwood manages the Sex Crimes Investi-
gation Unit, overseeing the preparation of presentence reports and
recommendations for sex offenders for the entire Eastern District; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Baldwin, New York, Leslie S. Lockwood will
officially retire from her position as Supervising United States
Probation Officer on Tuesday, May 31, 2016; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Supervising United States Probation Offi-
cer, Leslie S. Lockwood served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Leslie S. Lockwood was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the United States Probation Department
in the Eastern District of New York, Leslie S. Lockwood earned the admi-
ration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leslie S. Lockwood upon the occasion of her retirement after
almost 24 years of distinguished service, and to wish her continued
success in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leslie S. Lockwood.
