LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Bernard W. Burke on the occasion
of celebrating his 101st Birthday on April 30, 2016

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Bernard
W. Burke on the occasion of celebrating his 101st Birthday on April 30,
2016; and
WHEREAS, Bernard W. Burke was born on April 30, 1915, and grew up in
Brownville and Dexter, New York; and
WHEREAS, Bernard W. Burke was a dedicated boy scout from 1929 to 1934
and a member of Troop 55, under scoutmaster Ross A. Liddle, a World War
I Navy veteran; and
WHEREAS, In 1931, Bernard W. Burke advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout
and was honored at a ceremony at the Dexter Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, Bernard W. Burke has donated his extensive boy scout memora-
bilia to the William Hillcourt Scout Museum in Constantia, New York, and
has shared his extensive memories of his scouting experiences with muse-
um trustees; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man has inspired his family with his positive
outlook on life, and they look forward to celebrating many more birth-
days with him; and
WHEREAS, Bernard W. Burke, who has experienced the incredible joys and
sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina and
courage to savor a full life, has inspired the lives of his many friends
and family; and
WHEREAS, He has truly enriched the lives of those around him through
his joyous and sincere love for life and through the quiescent charm and
wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Bernard W. Burke upon the occasion of celebrating his 101st
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bernard W. Burke.
