LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rebecca FitzGerald upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by
the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rebecca Fitz-
Gerald upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca FitzGerald has distinguished herself as a young woman
of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Minisink Valley High School in Tuxedo Park, New
York, Rebecca FitzGerald will be attending Rochester Institute of Tech-
nology this fall; she plans to major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engi-
neering; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca FitzGerald is currently in the AP art class and
interns for the photography class; she is also a member of the Wind
Ensemble as a flute player, as well as the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Rebecca FitzGerald was a member of the Cross
Country Team, during which time she ran for her school in Counties and
Sectionals; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career Rebecca FitzGerald has
improved her artistic, musical and athletic skills drastically and
simultaneously proved her ability to do anything she sets her mind to;
and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Rebecca Fitz-
Gerald has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca FitzGerald may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca FitzGerald represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rebecca FitzGerald upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES,
and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rebecca FitzGerald.
