LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Olean High School Select Choir
upon the occasion of winning a Gold with Distinction rating at the 2016
NYSSMA Major Organization Adjudication Festival

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals who best demonstrate their commitment in excellence and success
to music education in their schools; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young people within our community, who, by achieving outstanding success
in music, have inspired and brought pride to their school district and
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Olean High School Select Choir upon the occasion of winning a
Gold with Distinction rating at the 2016 NYSSMA Major Organization Adju-
dication Festival; and
WHEREAS, The Olean High School Select Choir received its highest score
at the NYSSMA in the last seven years; this top music program, led by
conductor Jan Rhody, has not settled for less than a gold rating since
2007, a leader by example in music style, perfection and brilliance; and
WHEREAS, The Olean High School Select Choir demonstrates all of the
necessary attributes and skills to achieve success; the Choir is
comprised of different age groups from tenth grade through twelfth; and
WHEREAS, The Olean High School Select Choir also performed at the
Roswell Park Cancer Institute, in Buffalo, following the NYSSMA perform-
ance; here they provided inspiring music for patients, employees and
visitors; and
WHEREAS, Musically and academically, the members of the Olean High
School Select Choir have proven themselves to be a tremendous combina-
tion of talents, reflecting favorably on their school; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to give special
recognition to those who work so assiduously for the betterment of their
schools and communities in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Olean High School Select Choir, upon the occasion of
winning a Gold with Distinction rating at the 2016 NYSSMA Major Organ-
ization Adjudication Festival; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jan Rhody, Conductor, Olean High School Select Choir.
