LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Christine Parola upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Gold Award, the most presti-
gious of Scouting honors

WHEREAS, Christine Parola, through her diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious honor, the Girl
Scout Gold Award; the ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Christine Parola is a member of Girl Scout Troop 3655,
Wantagh-Seaford, New York; a natural born leader, she served as the
Assistant Troop Leader; and
WHEREAS, A graduate from Wantagh High School, Christine Parola was a
member and Trustee of the National Honor Society, President of the
National Art Honor Society, participant of the National Foreign Language
Honor Society and held the position of Vice President of the Spanish
Club; and
WHEREAS, A faithful member of the Bellmore Presbyterian Church, Chris-
tine Parola was an installed and ordained Presbyterian Elder, a Catholic
Youth Organization (CYO) Track Coach and served as an Assistant Sunday
School Teacher; and
WHEREAS, A gifted ballet dancer, Christine Parola was a Student Ballet
Teacher at Clare's Studio of Dance; in 2014, she was the Miss Wantagh
Second Runner Up; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Christine Parola participates in the Honors
Program at the University of Delaware where she is involved with the
Community Engagement Living Learning Community; she is also a National
Residence Hall Honor, a volunteer with A Taste of UD, and holds the
position of Secretary of the Redding-Gilbert Complex Community Council;
and
WHEREAS, Continuing to excel in her studies, Christine Parola was
named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters;
and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Since 1919, Senior Girl Scouts have sought to cap their years
in Girl Scouting with the prized Girl Scout Gold Award, which challenges
girls to change the world; and
WHEREAS, In order to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, a girl must
complete a rigorous set of service, leadership development, and skill-
building tasks leading up to the final and most challenging requirement,
the design and completion of a Take Action Project; this project must be
an issue of interest to the girl and her community, employ team-based
solutions, and educate and inspire others; and
WHEREAS, For her project, entitled Preserving Our History, Bringing
People Together for the Future, Christine Parola created and designed a
website for her church, Bellmore Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, Christine Parola envisions that
WWW.BELLMOREPRESBYTERIANCHURCH.ORG will provide information about the
Church to congregants and non-members, keep homebound congregants and
snow birds in touch with current Church activities, promote the Church
to the entire Bellmore community as well as other surrounding areas,

encourage the Bellmore community to attend church activities and
programs such as Vacation Bible School, detail the history of the Church
and attract young people to become members of the Church; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has been involved in Scouting
for years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of the
necessary achievements; and
WHEREAS, Christine Parola is a credit to her family, her school, her
community, her State and her Nation, and no doubt her future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Christine Parola upon the occasion of her desig-
nation as recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Christine Parola.
