LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C.
Mack upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of distinguished
service to the United States Army on July 1, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who dedicate their lives to military service
merit the commendation and applause of all citizens for their commitment
to the preservation of American freedom; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack upon the occasion of his retire-
ment after 35 years of distinguished service to the United States Army
to be celebrated at the 2nd Aviation Detachment Change of Command Cere-
mony on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the 2nd Aviation hangar, New Windsor,
New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1981, Alan C. Mack proudly enlisted in the United States
Army as an Aircraft Powertrain repairer, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout his meritorious military career, Chief Warrant
Officer Five Alan C. Mack successfully completed numerous assignments
including the 4th of the 7th Cavalry, Camp Stanley, Korea, 3rd Armored
Cavalry Regiment, Fort Bliss, Texas, and the 70th Transportation Battal-
ion in Mannheim, West Germany; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Flight School in 1989, at Fort Rucker,
Alabama, Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack served as a Warrant
Officer flying CH-47D Chinooks with Company B, 2-159th (Hercules), Hunt-
er Army Airfield, Savannah, Georgia; Company A, 2-501st (Black Cats),
Korea; and Company F, 1-14th Aviation (Windjammers), Fort Rucker; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack volunteered
for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) at
Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as Standardization Instructor
Pilot, Instrument Examiner, Flight Lead, and Platoon Leader; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his 35-year tenure, Chief Warrant Officer Five
Alan C. Mack was deployed as a CH-47D Pilot during Desert Shield/Storm,
and as an MH-47 Flight Lead in Operations Desert Thunder, Desert Fox,
Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Copper Dune; and
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack also served as an
MH-47 Flight Lead with Task Force Dagger in Uzbekistan, where, as part
of America's response to the events of 9-11, he flew ODA-595 (Horse
Soldiers) to meet General Abdul Dostum in Mazari Sharif, Afghanistan,
supporting the subsequent fall of the Taliban and the return of the
United States Embassy in Kabul to American control; and
WHEREAS, A Master Aviator with more than 6,700 hours of flight time,
of which over 3,200 hours were flown with Night Vision Goggles, Chief
Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack has been the recipient of numerous
awards and medals including two Distinguished Flying Crosses, three
Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, ten Air Medals
(one with Valor device), Combat Action Badge and the Army Broken Wing
award; and
WHEREAS, On July 12, 2013, Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack was
named the Commander of the West Point Flight Detachment, 2nd Aviation,
flying UH-72 Lakota helicopters; he will officially retire from this
distinguished position on July 1, 2016; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, his two children, and
three step-children, as well as two grandchildren, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his accomplishments;
and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, The Nation's members of the Armed Forces deserve to be recog-
nized, commended and thanked by the people of the State of New York for
their service and for their dedication to their communities, State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack upon the occasion of his
retirement after 35 years of distinguished service to the United States
Army, and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan C. Mack.
