LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chief Salvatore Trentanelli upon the
occasion of his retirement after 28 years of distinguished service to
the City of Corning Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The quality of life in these communities is largely reflec-
tive of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of the
agencies which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Chief Salvatore Trentanelli upon the occasion of his retirement after 28
years of distinguished service to the City of Corning Police Department
on Thursday, June 30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; Police Chief Salva-
tore Trentanelli is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Salvatore Trentanelli rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the City of Corning
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Salvatore Trentanelli began his career in law enforcement as
a Sheriff Deputy with the Steuben County Sheriff's office in November of
1986; he went on to become a Police Officer with the Village of Addison
Police Department in April of the following year; and
WHEREAS, On August 1, 1988, Salvatore Trentanelli became a Police
Officer with the City of Corning Police Department; throughout his
illustrious tenure, he climbed the ranks to become Lieutenant on Novem-
ber 11, 1994, and Police Chief on August 8, 2000, the esteemed position
from which he will retire; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Police Chief, Salvatore Trentanelli served
with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Chief Salvatore Trentanelli
serves as President of both the Family Services Society, Inc. and Steu-
ben County Chiefs of Police Association; he is also Chairman of Steuben
County Traffic Safety Board, and Vice Chairman of Steuben County E-911
Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he has given of his time and energy to the Steu-
ben County Mobile Data Terminal Technology Committee, the Western New
York Chiefs of Police Association, the International Association of
Chiefs of Police, the Steuben County Domestic Abuse Review Team, the
Zone 12 Counter-Terrorism Committee, the Corning City School District
Safety Committee, the Corning Community College Criminal Justice Advi-
sory Board and the Steuben-Allegany BOCES Criminal Justice Advisory
Board, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Chief Salvatore Trentanelli was
governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of
human problems, earning him the admiration, esteem and affection of his
fellow officers; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Karen, and their four
sons, Anthony, Ignatius (Nate), Nicholas and John, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Chief Salvatore Trentanelli for their valued
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chief Salvatore Trentanelli upon the occasion of his retirement
after 28 years of distinguished service to the City of Corning Police
Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Salvatore Trentanelli.
