LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Amy Anderson-Winchell, L.C.S.W. upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Caritas Award by
Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Amy
Anderson-Winchell, L.C.S.W. upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2015 Caritas Award by Catholic Charities Community
Services of Orange County at its 9th Annual Celebration of Charity to be
held on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New
York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Amy Anderson-Winchell serves
as an extraordinary example of one who demonstrates a deep respect for
the dignity of every individual by serving the basic needs of the most
vulnerable in our midst and by significantly contributing to the build-
ing of a compassionate and just society; and
WHEREAS, Prior to earning her Master of Social Work degree from the
University of Pennsylvania in 1981, Amy Anderson-Winchell was conferred
a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University after completing her
final semester of study at Yale University; upon graduation, she became
a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker; and
WHEREAS, In 1982, Amy Anderson-Winchell began her career with Access:
Supports for Living, previously known as Occupations, Inc.; today, she
serves as both the President and Chief Executive Officer, overseeing all
activities of the multi-million dollar corporation system, and providing
organizational leadership to over 1,300 staff, as well as serving more
than 10,000 people per year; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Amy Anderson-Winchell guides an experienced
leadership team in delivering diverse mental health treatment, rehabili-
tation, community outreach, and child welfare services to the residents
of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, An active member of her community, Amy Anderson-Winchell has
been involved in the planning of mental health services with both the
Orange County Mental Health Department and the Joint Membership of
Health and Community Agencies; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Amy Anderson-Winchell serves as the Vice Chair-
person of Coordinated Behavioral Health Services (CBHS), and the Secre-
tary of the Board of Directors of New York Integrated Network for People
with Developmental Disabilities (NYIN); she is also a member of the
Board of Directors of the New York State Rehabilitation Association and
has served on task forces for multiple other state advocacy associ-
ations; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by Amy
Anderson-Winchell over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Amy Anderson-Winchell, L.C.S.W. upon the occasion of her desig-
nation as recipient of the 2015 Caritas Award by Catholic Charities
Community Services of Orange County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Amy Anderson-Winchell, L.C.S.W.
