LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Varick Ward upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of
2015 by the Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Varick Ward upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick Valley
Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2015 by the Warwick Valley Central
School District on Friday, January 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding efforts, commitment, and past accomplishments
of Varick Ward on the hardwood have helped shape the history of the
Warwick Valley Wildcats Basketball Team and serve as an inspiration to
the current generation of players; and
WHEREAS, A 1992 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Varick Ward
was a four-year player and three-year starter on the varsity basketball
team, playing under the able tutelage of Head Coach Tom Folino; and
WHEREAS, A prolific scorer, Varick Ward helped lead his team to two
consecutive Section IX playoff appearances, including the 1991 Class B
semi-finals; he finished his high school basketball career with an
impressive 567 points, placing him 14th on the all-time scoring list;
and
WHEREAS, Varick Ward's most memorable moment came during the 1991
first round playoff game against Cornwall, when he helped his team
achieve a thrilling overtime victory; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Varick Ward provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-ath-
letes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Varick Ward has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the commu-
nity-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Varick Ward upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2015 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Varick Ward.
