LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Glenn C. Wallace posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest
honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Glenn C.
Wallace posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate, to be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2015, in
Columbia County; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by a
resolution in 2014 and is awarded to individuals who have merited
special commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on
behalf of their fellow New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 27, 1932, in Glens Falls, New York, Glenn C.
Wallace graduated from St. Mary's Academy, and attended the College of
the Holy Cross and Albany Business College earning an associate's
degree; and
WHEREAS, Glenn C. Wallace began serving his country proudly as a
member of the United States Navy on October 18, 1954, at the United
States Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, Norfolk, Virginia; in 1956,
he was honorably discharged with the rank of Yeoman Third Class after
serving over a year of active service during the Cold War; and
WHEREAS, This brave soldier was the awarded the Good Conduct Medal for
his exceptional military service; and
WHEREAS, Upon returning home to Kinderhook, New York, Glenn C. Wallace
worked and retired from the Travelers Insurance Company in 1989, after
many years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, After his retirement, Glenn C. Wallace served as Columbia
County Republican Election Commissioner for 11 years, and Constituent
Service Representative for Senator Saland; he also served as the Assist-
ant Sergeant-at-Arms for the New York State Senate, and ended his illus-
trious public service career serving as a Special Investigation Officer
of the New York State Department of Insurance Fraud; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Glenn C. Wallace was a member of the
Kinderhook's Elks Lodge 2530, Friends of Lindenwald, Kinderhook Town
Council, John J. Curran Knights of Columbus, and Kinderhook Sportsmen
Club; in addition, he faithfully supported the Boy Scouts of America and
the Marion Stegmann Fund; and
WHEREAS, Glenn C. Wallace died on October 2, 2014, at the age of 82;
and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Arlene, Glenn C. Wallace
is survived by his two children, Linda and Mark, and three grandchil-
dren; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Glenn C. Wallace demonstrated his love for his country and merits forev-
ermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Glenn C. Wallace posthumously upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Glenn C. Wallace.
