LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary (Marie) Moloney upon the occasion
of her selection as Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St.
Patrick's Day Parade on March 22, 2015

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides an opportunity
for people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mary
(Marie) Moloney upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy Marshal of
the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held on Sunday,
March 22, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan, Marie Molo-
ney was one of four siblings born to Irish immigrants who both came to
the United States from County Cork; shortly after her birth, the family
moved to Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Marie Moloney attended both St. Patrick's School and Fort
Hamilton High School in Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, In 1951, Marie Dullea married John Moloney, and they became
faithful parishioners of Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn; for
years, the couple not only attended every event within the parish, but
also organized many of them; and
WHEREAS, Marie Moloney was a Cub Scout den mother, a devoted member of
the Rosary Society, and was instrumental in the success of the school
theater productions; and
WHEREAS, Once her children were at school age, Marie Moloney returned
to the workforce, holding the position of Legal Secretary for both the
private and public sector for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Marie Moloney volunteered her time
and energies every year for the Board of Elections; in addition, for 25
years, she worked as a home-care aide, assisting homebound seniors all
around both Bay Ridge, and Staten Island; and
WHEREAS, Today, Marie Moloney lives in Breezy Point, Queens, and walks
to church every day and participates in many activities throughout the
year with her friends and family; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John Moloney; four
children, John, Bill, Kathleen, and Edward; 12 grandchildren, Liz, Tara,
Billy, Kerry, Matt, Maggie, John, Eddie, Robert, Dennis, Erin, and Bren-
dan; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Connor, Nolan, Kayla,
Quinn, Taylor, and Emma, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her
life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, Marie Moloney embodies the spirit and
the cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great State
and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary (Marie) Moloney upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy
Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on March
22, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary (Marie) Moloney.
