LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jim Kelley upon the occasion of his
designation as Grand Marshal of the 2016 Camden Irish Parade
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals of true purpose and worthy accomplishment who work
diligently to preserve and celebrate their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Jim Kelley upon the occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal of the
2016 Camden Irish Parade; he will have the privilege of leading this
grand event, now in its 15th year, on Saturday, March 19, 2016, in
Camden, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jim Kelley was chosen for this most auspicious honor in
recognition of his demonstrated commitment to and support of the Camden
Irish Parade, as well as his stature as a well-respected citizen of his
community; and
WHEREAS, Jim Kelley, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, was
born and raised in Camden, New York, and has been a dairy farmer in this
picturesque area all of his life; and
WHEREAS, Of proud Irish descent, Jim Kelley, along with his wife of 56
years, the former Dorothy "Doty" Granger, are the proud parents of six
children and the loving grandparents of 13 grandchildren as well as six
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Grand Marshal of the 2016 Camden Irish
Parade, Jim Kelley embodies the spirit and the cherished ideals and
values of Irish-Americans across this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jim Kelley upon the occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal
of the 2016 Camden Irish Parade; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jim Kelley.
