LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Rye High School Boys Varsity
Golf Team and Coach Pat Romano upon the occasion of capturing the New
York State Class A Section I Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and a well-executed winning strategy; and
WHEREAS, With a legendary tradition of excellence, the Rye High School
Garnets Boys Golf Team fell nothing short of expectations with their
impressive 2016 season finish; the notable coaching, extensive teamwork,
and outstanding players contributed to the success of the program; and
WHEREAS, The Rye Garnets reigned victorious in their New York State
Section I Class A Boys Golf title by defeating Bronxville in the team
tournament at Rye's home course of Apawamis Club; heading into the final
hole, Rye and Bronxville golfers were matched with scores of 204; stel-
lar individual performances enabled the team to finish on top with a
birdie on the final hole; and
WHEREAS, The success of the team is attributed to the inspiring nature
and honorable characteristics of Coach Pat Romano; his motivation,
heart, and commitment to the program contributed to the Rye Garnets
Section I Championship; he created a cohesive unit by recognizing the
strengths of each individual player; this enabled the team to perform
under pressure with great confidence throughout each phase of the game;
and
WHEREAS, The 2016 Rye Boys Golf Team competed with the best of the
best and finished on top thanks to the endless support of their friends,
family, and community; their loyal and enthusiastic fans contributed to
the team's outstanding season; and
WHEREAS, The boys not only excelled in the game of golf, but also in
the classroom; the academic and athletic talent of the individual play-
ers are attributed to their hard-work, positive mentality, and determi-
nation to achieve greatness across all aspects of their lives; and
WHEREAS, Values of teamwork, sportsmanship, pride and accomplishment
are instilled in the athletic competition; Coach Pat Romano and all of
the outstanding athletes have clearly made a contribution to the spirit
of excellence that is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Rye Boys Golf Team; its members: Nick Berger, Theo
Berner, Will Colwell, Will Gladstone, Dillon Lahey, Rocco Macri, Matt
Shainberg, Tiernan Gough, Spencer Hunt, Nick LePore, James McHugh,
Thomas Tartaglia, Zach Bunder, Kyle Gardner, Max Kenney, Chaim Yi, Brian
Latkany, and Jack Tartaglia; and Head Coach Pat Romano on their
outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Rye Boys Varsity Golf Team and Coach Pat
Romano.
