LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the New York State Recreation and Park
Society upon the occasion of hosting its 75th Annual Diamond Jubilee
Conference and Expo April 26-28, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the New York State Recreation and Park Society upon the occasion of
hosting its 75th Annual Diamond Jubilee Conference and Expo April 26-28,
2015, at the Saratoga Hilton and Conference Center in Saratoga Springs,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1940 and incorporated in 1960, the New York State
Recreation and Park Society (NYSRPS) is the principal organization
promoting quality recreation and park opportunities for all citizens of
New York State through education, training, technical assistance, and
other support to local, county, state, and federal recreation and park
providers; and
WHEREAS, The NYSRPS's members include recreation and park profes-
sionals working for federal, state, and local agencies; therapeutic
recreation specialists and activity coordinators working in health care
facilities; local recreation and park advisory board members serving
local communities; faculty and students at colleges and universities;
recreation directors at commercial and resort facilities, and suppliers
of recreation and park products; and
WHEREAS, This worthy organization's mission is to advance the value of
parks, recreation, and leisure services though professional development
of its members and citizen engagement; and
WHEREAS, The core services offered by NYSRPS include: Professional
Development, promoting educational, professional certification, and
networking opportunities, best practices, and resources; Membership
Development and Services, providing quality services and benefits which
attract, engage, and retain members, and are responsive to their needs;
Public Policy Development, raising awareness and supporting the advance-
ment of parks, recreation, and leisure services by advocating for local,
state, and national policy issues and interests; and Resource Develop-
ment, maintaining and developing resources which support and sustain
society; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by the
availability of exceptional recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the seasons, NYSRPS is an organization much appre-
ciated by the residents of New York State and visitors who seek the
historical, cultural, and recreational resources of the area; it is a
source of pride and community heritage to all the people of New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the New York State Recreation and Park Society upon the occasion
of hosting its 75th Annual Diamond Jubilee Conference and Expo April
26-28, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York State Recreation and Park Society.
