LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the League of Women Voters of
Huntington upon the occasion of celebrating its 95th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the League of Women Voters of Huntington upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 95th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President Judie Gorenstein,
the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Huntington is an energetic and
vibrant non-partisan voluntary organization, whose mission is to encour-
age and engage citizens into being active and educated participants in
government; and
WHEREAS, Active in their community, the LWV of Huntington sponsors
voter registration drives and candidate nights, engages students in
programs at their schools, helps register new citizens at naturalization
ceremonies, and attends Huntington Town Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this vital organization presents programs to the
public on the environment, health care, government and other important
issues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the League of Women Voters of Huntington upon the occasion
of celebrating its 95th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Judie Gorenstein, President, League of Women Voters of Hunt-
ington.
