LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Adelaide Hutson upon the occasion of
her retirement after many years of distinguished service to St. Alphon-
sus Catholic Church, Auburn, New York

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish them-
selves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preemi-
nence of service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Adelaide Hutson upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of
distinguished service to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Auburn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Adelaide Hutson was one of nine children born to Adelaide and
John Cullen; in 1966, she graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, Auburn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Prior to operating a home daycare, Adelaide Hutson was
employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); and
WHEREAS, Throughout the last 13 years, Adelaide Hutson has held the
leadership position of both Pastoral Minister and Christian Formation
and Liturgy Coordinator at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church; she enjoys
working with families from Baptism through death; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Adelaide Hutson was instrumental in plan-
ning a Perpetual Rosary Program which involved approximately 60 parish-
ioners, each of whom prayed an assigned bead of the rosary every day;
she also directed students in a performance of Living Stations of the
Cross, a long-standing Good Friday tradition; and
WHEREAS, Along with team members from other parishes, Adelaide Hutson
helped prepare catechumens/candidates to receive the Sacraments of
Initiation during Easter Vigil; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman serves on the Parish Life and Social
Justice Committees; in this capacity, she participates in numerous
Church events throughout the seasons, including Advent, Lent, the annual
garage sale, and children's sacraments and religious education, as well
as various other social events; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Adelaide Hutson was responsible for organizing
various events at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church during Catholic Schools
Week, which provides an ideal way to remind the school family of the
many benefits of a Catholic education and display those benefits for the
larger community; and
WHEREAS, After attending St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester, New
York, and obtaining both Diocesan certifications in religious education
and grief counseling, Adelaide Hutson became a Certified Grief Counse-
lor; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, this compassionate woman volunteers her time and
energies working with Hospice, visiting families of patients in hospi-
tals, and supporting a school in the Dominican Republic; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two beloved children, Mary
Elizabeth (Lewis) Caster and Jeramy Scott Hutson, and her two cherished
grandchildren, Ailish Jean Caster and Madison Jay Hudson, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and

WHEREAS, Adelaide Hutson has brought to her ministry an overwhelming
spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment
in conducting her administrative and spiritual duties, while always
displaying the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman of God has always given enlight-
enment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to her care and has
administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal
needs of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Adelaide Hutson upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, noting
her unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to
God, man, and her community, and extending to her the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Adelaide Hutson.
