LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Correction Officers Jeremy Greene,
Michael Landon, Jeremy Osterhoudt and Harold Rivenburgh in recognition
of their quick and heroic actions in saving the lives of two inmates who
collapsed and were unresponsive and in imminent danger of death from
cardiac arrest
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take prompt and appro-
priate action in emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, On December 11, 2015, an inmate at Greene Correctional Facil-
ity was experiencing chest pains and then became unresponsive and lacked
a pulse while being transported to a medical unit; and
WHEREAS, While in the course of performing his job duties, Officer
Rivenburgh remained calm under pressure, exercised great judgment and
demonstrated professional commitment to the inmates under his care; he
checked the inmate's pulse and retrieved an Automated External Defibril-
lator and immediately applied it to the inmate and subsequently, admin-
istered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the inmate until his pulse
returned and he was safely transported to a medical unit; and
WHEREAS, On December 28, 2015, an inmate at Eastern Correctional
Facility collapsed and became unresponsive while playing basketball; and
WHEREAS, While in the course of performing their job duties Officers
Greene, Landon and Osterhoudt remained calm under pressure, exercised
great judgment and demonstrated professional commitment to the inmates
under their care, and Officers Greene and Landon immediately adminis-
tered CPR to the inmate while Officer Osterhoudt arrived at the emergen-
cy scene with an Automated External Defibrillator and administered a
shock to the inmate who then revived and was safely transported to a
medical unit; and
WHEREAS, By virtue of their quick actions these men richly merit
recognition by this Legislative Body for exemplary professionalism while
performing lifesaving deeds and demonstrating their compassion for the
welfare of others without thought of reward; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of outstanding accomplishment are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Correction Officers Jeremy Greene, Michael Landon, Jeremy Oster-
houdt and Harold Rivenburgh in recognition of their speedy and heroic
responses which saved the lives of two people; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Correction Officers Jeremy Greene, Michael Landon, Jeremy
Osterhoudt and Harold Rivenburgh.
