COMMENDING the Creedmor Civic Association upon the
occasion of celebrating its 90th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Creedmor Civic Association upon the occasion of its 90th
Anniversary to be celebrated on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Queens
County Farm Museum in Queens, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1927, the Creedmor Civic Association was created as a
voluntary association, taking its name from the subdivision, the
Creedmor Homes, in which it was located; it is an organization dedicated
to keeping and improving the quality of life in the neighborhood in
which it serves; and

WHEREAS, Located between Moline Street to 240th Street from Braddock
Avenue to both sides of 88th Avenue, the Creedmor Civic Association
became incorporated in 1938; 12 years later, it extended its boundaries
east to encompass the territory of the Bellerose Braddock Civic
Association, taking over the southbound service road of the Cross Island
Parkway; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 90 year history, Presidents H. Jacob
Breininger and James Trent accounted for 39 years of this organization's
past; and

WHEREAS, Even though the Creedmor Civic Association, serves only 700
homes and 1000 families, it has always been strongly represented at the
Eastern Queens Civic Council and the Federation of Civic Councils of the
Borough of Queens; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President Michael
O'Keeffe, Creedmor Civic Association successfully secured storm sewers
for its territory and repaved all local streets; it won rezoning of its
area to protect its single-family configuration and got a health
hazardous house demolished by the city; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Creedmor Civic Association is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Creedmor Civic
Association; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Creedmor Civic Association upon the occasion of its 90th
Anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael O'Keeffe, President, the Creedmor Civic
Association.
