HONORING Janice Hobba-Glose upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Yellow Rose
Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island
WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Janice Hobba-Glose upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island, New York,
celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and
colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and
continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, The Zonta Club, an international organization of
professional women who work to advance the status of women through
service and advocacy, sets aside March 8th of each year as Yellow Rose
Day, to honor the accomplishments of women worldwide; the Zonta Club of
Grand Island takes this opportunity to honor women whose courage,
determination and dedication have made a difference in the lives of
others within the community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, An Assistant Professor of nursing at Daemen College, Janice
Hobba-Glose holds a doctoral degree in nursing science and nursing
education and leadership; well-respected in her field, she has been
asked to make a national presentation to nurses and health care leaders
in geriatric care in Austin, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Janice Hobba-Glose was instrumental in bringing
critically-needed healthcare to other nations by leading medical
missions to Haiti and Costa Rica; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Janice Hobba-Glose is very
active in local school, church and local activities; in addition, she
also works with a team of nurses from across Western New York to develop
a nursing leadership development program designed to build the
leadership capacity of nurses in Western New York; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and children, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Janice Hobba-Glose upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Janice Hobba-Glose.
