HONORING Lynn Dingey upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Yellow Rose Award by
the Zonta Club of Grand Island
WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lynn Dingey upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island, New York,
celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and
colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and
continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, The Zonta Club, an international organization of
professional women who work to advance the status of women through
service and advocacy, sets aside March 8th of each year as Yellow Rose
Day, to honor the accomplishments of women worldwide; the Zonta Club of
Grand Island takes this opportunity to honor women whose courage,
determination and dedication have made a difference in the lives of
others within the community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Lynn Dingey is well known in her community as the co-Chair
of Relay for Life of Grand Island; her goal is to be able to put a smile
on a survivor's face for even a short amount of time and to help raise
the money that comes back to Buffalo in the form of a research grant
which gives survivors and their families hope to beat cancer; and
WHEREAS, Personally motivated, Lynn Dingey is trying to do whatever
she can to make a cancer survivor's journey just a little easier; and
WHEREAS, As Assistant Civil Engineer for Grand Island, Lynn Dingey
has worked on several great prospects including Buckhorn State Park,
Fisherman's Landing Park under the South Bridge and the Miracle League
Field in Veterans Park; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lynn Dingey oversees various aspects of day to
day life, such as ensuring water comes out of the faucet, treating water
that goes down the drain, and ensuring garbage pickup and working
traffic lights; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lynn Dingey upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lynn Dingey.
