Senate Resolution No. 1256

CONGRATULATING David Steele upon the occasion of
being named the 2017 Athletic Director of the Year
by the New York State Athletic Administrators
Association

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
individuals of outstanding character within the State of New York who
are dedicated to developing character and sportsmanship in our high
school athletes; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate David Steele upon the occasion of being named the 2017
Athletic Director of the Year by the New York State Athletic
Administrators Association; and

WHEREAS, David Steele wears many hats, serving as a Heuvelton
Central School physical education and health teacher, as well as a high
school coach in addition to his athletic director responsibilities; and

WHEREAS, Well-known for his positive attitude, and drive to do what
is best for the student athletes under his direction, David Steele was
selected by the New York State Athletic Administrators Association as
Athletic Director of the Year for 2017; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and David Steele has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence in high school athletics; and

WHEREAS, David Steele's positive demeanor, selfless commitment, and
caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as an athletic
director, earning him the respect and admiration of his community and
his peers; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate David Steele upon the occasion of being named the 2017
Athletic Director of the Year by the New York State Athletic
Administrators Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Steele.
