HONORING Mary Kate Callahan upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by Valley
Central PTA Council

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mary Kate Callahan upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Valley Central PTA Council, celebrated at its Annual
Founders' Night in March of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Founders' Night is a reminder of the substantial role that
PTA has played locally, regionally, and nationally in supporting parent
involvement and working on behalf of all children and families; and

WHEREAS, The R.I.G.H.T. Award, which stands for role model,
initiative, goals, helpfulness and to make a difference, is dedicated to
acknowledging the youth of the Valley Central School District who have
demonstrated an exceptional contribution within the community; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Valley Central High School, Mary Kate Callahan
is being recognized with this auspicious award for her exceptional work
with a student-run fashion show; and

WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Mary Kate Callahan
has distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability,
establishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Kate Callahan, in achieving this honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Mary Kate Callahan represents the best development of the potential
which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Mary Kate Callahan continued success throughout her school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Kate Callahan upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Valley Central PTA Council; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mary Kate Callahan.
