HONORING Phoebe Morse upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Lenore Bellin
Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Phoebe Morse upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 30, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and

WHEREAS, An active member of the Albany Jewish Community Center
(JCC), Phoebe Morse began attending its Kaleidoscope afterschool
program, as well as its vacation and summer camps at the age of seven;
and

WHEREAS, Phoebe Morse has been a member of the Albany Arrows Swim
Team for the past six years; she has also volunteered for Kidz Nite Out,
and served as a CIT and Junior Lifeguard/Counselor at Camp Olam; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed young woman has served as a
member of the Camp Committee, and competed in the Maccabi Games from
2012 to 2015; she recently began working for Kaleidoscope; and

WHEREAS, Outside of the Albany Jewish Community Center, Phoebe Morse
is a member at the B'nai Sholom; she attended Hebrew School until eighth
grade, and joined Youth Services of B'nai Sholom (YOBS) for one year;
and

WHEREAS, A senior at Albany High School, Phoebe Morse is currently a
member of Key Club where she gives tirelessly of her time and energies
making peanut butter sandwiches for the Capital City Rescue Mission and
raising funds for Albany Medical Center's Neonatal ICU Center; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Phoebe Morse volunteers for Red Bookshelf, a
program which recirculates gently used children's books back into the
community where they are made available free for families to own; and

WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Phoebe
Morse was bestowed the RIT Computing Medal Award and the 2016
Multicultural High School Achievers Award; and

WHEREAS, Phoebe Morse is a member of the National Honor Society; she
plans to attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to study Physical Education;
and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Phoebe Morse continued success throughout her school years
and beyond; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Phoebe Morse represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Phoebe Morse upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Phoebe Morse.
