HONORING Carol Clarke upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition in conjunction
with the observance of National Library Workers Day
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions and
individuals whose purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the
needs of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carol Clarke upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition in conjunction with the observance of National Library
Workers Day, to be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Mineola,
New York; and
WHEREAS, National Library Workers Day (NLWD) is a day for library
staff, users, administrators and friends groups to recognize the
valuable contributions made by all library workers; and
WHEREAS, On January 25, 2003, a resolution was proposed to recognize
the hard work, dedication, and expertise of library support staff and
librarians on the Tuesday of National Library Week, and to designate
this day as National Library Workers Day; and
WHEREAS, Carol Clarke, a local historian, has been instrumental in
the success of the Bryant Library; through her enthusiasm and knowledge,
she brings to life the rich history of the Roslyn area by holding tours
and participating in programs; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Carol Clarke encourages visitors, both adult
and child, to peruse the local history collection housed in the
library's Bryant Room to experience the wonderful past of the community
and how it relates to its future; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Bryant Library is in direct correlation
to the efforts of Carol Clarke, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the library and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Carol Clarke; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carol Clarke upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition in conjunction with the observance of National Library
Workers Day; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carol Clarke.
