HONORING Mike Adey upon the occasion of his
induction into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes and coaches who have distinguished themselves
through their exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success
and the highest level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mike Adey upon the occasion of his induction into the Greater Utica
Sports Hall of Fame, to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at
Daniele's Banquet Facility, New Hartford, New York; and

WHEREAS, Entering the Hall of Fame in the Coach or Manager category,
Mike Adey is the all-time winningest coach in Boys Section III
Basketball with a 566-200 record; and

WHEREAS, Mike Adey led the New York Mills Marauders to two Class D
New York State Championship titles, and won 343 of the 417 games he
coached there; his teams also secured 12 Center State Conference
Division Titles, nine Section III Class D Titles (seven consecutively
from 2009-2015), and five Regional Titles; and

WHEREAS, Mike Adey began his illustrious career at Rome Catholic
High School where he captured eight League Titles and two Section III
Class C Championships en route to a 176-93 record; he also coached at
New Hartford High School, leading the school to two Tri-Valley League
Titles and 47 wins against 32 losses; and

WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Mike
Adey was the Utica Observer Dispatch All-Mohawk Valley Basketball Team
Coach of the Year five times; in addition, he is a member of the New
York State Basketball Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all members of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mike Adey upon the occasion of his induction into the Greater
Utica Sports Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mike Adey.
