HONORING Marie Wood upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 Outstanding
Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award by the St.
Lawrence County Office for the Aging
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marie Wood upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2017
Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award by the St. Lawrence
County Office for the Aging; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Marie Wood has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in her unwavering service to her community and, consequently,
has been selected for this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Marie Wood has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Clifton-Fine Senior Club, she plans and
organizes senior bus trips, provides computer expertise, and volunteers
for nearly every club and activity; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Mervin Eno Post 1539 Ladies Auxiliary,
she assists with community events and dinners, and has been instrumental
in planning the Holiday Parcel and Cards drive for local servicemen and
women; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is also active with the Clifton-Fine
Hospital Auxiliary, assisting with fundraising efforts, providing
transportation to nursing home residents to various community
activities, and, along with her mother Dorothy, engaging in weekly
activities for nursing home residents; and
WHEREAS, Marie Wood also volunteers weekly for the local Wednesday
Night Free Church Dinner, cooking, baking, serving and delivering meals;
and
WHEREAS, A humble individual and a natural caregiver, this kind,
generous and compassionate woman truly believes the world needs more
people helping others, and she has lived her life accordingly, dedicated
to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marie Wood upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award by the St.
Lawrence County Office for the Aging; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marie Wood.
