HONORING the Girl Scouts of Grand Island upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2016
Citizen of the Year Award by the Grand Island
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of
organizations that generously contribute to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Girl Scouts of Grand Island upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2016 Citizen of the Year Award by the Grand Island
Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the DoubleTree by
Hilton in Niagara Falls, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually to
businesses and individuals who have graciously given of their time and
energy and have truly made Grand Island a better place to live and work;
these organizations are the foundation and spirit of their great
community; and

WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of Grand Island exemplifies the success and
contributions of youth organizations, the spirit of collaboration, as
well as the drive to develop the leaders of tomorrow; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Girl Scouts of Grand Island upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2016 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Grand Island Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Girl Scouts of Grand Island.
