HONORING Michael Hoffman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Third Age
Achievement Award in Business by Senior Services of
Albany
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York and to the quality of life of its people; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael
Hoffman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017
Third Age Achievement Award in Business by Senior Services of Albany, to
be celebrated at its 21st Annual Third Age Achievement Awards Luncheon
on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions that area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Michael Hoffman will
receive this award for his valuable achievements and devoted service to
his community after the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, A native of Albany, New York, Michael Hoffman graduated
with a degree in Industrial Distribution from Clarkson College; and
WHEREAS, Michael Hoffman began his illustrious lodging career in
1975, when he and his family opened a 202-room Best Western hotel; soon
after its opening, he became the hotel's manager and in 1987, was
responsible for the conversion of the business to the Holiday Inn brand;
and
WHEREAS, In 1990, the Hoffman family purchased the Inn at Lake
George; built in 1966, the hotel has since returned to the Holiday Inn
and is a 2006 Torchbearer Award winner for quality and excellence in
service; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Michael Hoffman serves on the Board of Directors of the
Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, the New York State Tourism
and Hospitality Association, and is a past president of the IAHI; he is
also on the Board of LaSalle School; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Hoffman has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With his proven business leadership abilities and his
evident dedication to his community, Michael Hoffman is the
quintessential selection for this prestigious award; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Hoffman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 Third Age Achievement Award in Business by Senior Services
of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael Hoffman.
