COMMENDING Maureen S. Bonanni, Esq. upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of The
Daniel Mahoney Memorial Award by the Capital
District Trial Lawyer's Association
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in recognizing its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community
and their professions; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Maureen S. Bonanni, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of The Daniel Mahoney Memorial Award by the Capital District
Trial Lawyer's Association, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on
June 15, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Each year, The Daniel Mahoney Memorial Award is presented
in memory of the founder of the Capital District Lawyer's Association,
to an attorney for demonstrating outstanding commitment and service to
his or her clients, the bar and profession, and to the perpetuation of
the work of the Shirt Sleeve Lawyer; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Albany, New York, Maureen S. Bonanni was
a 1971 cum laude graduate of the College of St. Rose, and a 1972
graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, with a master's
degree in political science; and
WHEREAS, After working for a few years in the New York State
Legislature and several lobby firms, Maureen S. Bonanni returned to
Albany Law School, where she graduated in 1980; and
WHEREAS, After entering into a field with few women litigators,
Maureen S. Bonanni did trial work with an Albany defense firm; due to
her experience, she was elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates
in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of her distinguished career, Maureen S.
Bonanni has defended the manufacturers of products in catastrophic
injury cases and health care professionals and hospitals in civil
litigation, as well as before Boards of Misconduct; and
WHEREAS, Maureen S. Bonanni's experience includes defending
manufacturers of farm equipment, automobiles, furniture and numerous
other products; she has handled cases involving brain damaged infants
and adults, neurologically impaired infants and adults, and wrongful
death claims as well as defended insurance companies in cases asserting
bad faith and fraud; and
WHEREAS, Admitted in New York State courts, United States District
Court for the Northern District of New York, Eastern District of New
York, and Southern District of New York, Maureen S. Bonanni is also a
member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association,
Albany County Bar Association, Saratoga County Bar Association, Capital
District Trial Lawyers Association and Defense Research Institute, as
well as Sustaining Member and Past President of the Albany Law School
American Inns of Court; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, are reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate
their lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Maureen S. Bonanni, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of The Daniel Mahoney Memorial Award by the Capital District
Trial Lawyer's Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Maureen S. Bonanni, Esq.
