COMMENDING the Pilot Club of Babylon upon the
occasion of celebrating its 30th Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Pilot Club of Babylon upon the occasion of celebrating its
30th Anniversary on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Southward Ho Country
Club in Bay Shore, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Pilot Club of Babylon is a part of Pilot International
Club, a community service club which influences positive change; over
the years, this distinguished organization has helped numerous people
throughout the world by encouraging brain safety and health, preparing
youth for service and supporting those who care for others; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, the Pilot Club is committed to
bettering the Town of Babylon through charitable works such as donating
their time and energies to bettering the area of Babylon; some of these
charitable works include donating medical equipment to both Southside
Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Pilot Club of Babylon's Start School Right
Program organizes and donates backpacks complete with school supplies
and a new outfit for approximately 50 less-fortunate students; their
Brain Minders Program educates preschoolers and kindergarten children
about playground safety, bicycle and skateboard safety; and
WHEREAS, During the holidays, the Pilot Club of Babylon delivers
baskets of food to local seniors; the club also hosts an annual senior
tea for Babylon residents; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Pilot Club of Babylon contributes to
therapy programs for battered women and children, and gives colorful
pillowcases and pillows to children in the pediatric ward at Good
Samaritan to raise spirits; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Pilot Club of Babylon upon the occasion of celebrating its
30th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Pilot Club of Babylon.
