COMMENDING Courier Life's Brooklyn Daily upon the
occasion of hosting its 7th Annual Women of
Distinction Awards and paying tribute to this year's
honorees on June 1, 2017

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Courier Life's Brooklyn Daily upon the occasion of hosting its
7th Annual Women of Distinction Awards and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees at its 2017 Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony which was held on
Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Sirico's Caterers in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, This year's honorees include: Grisel Amador, The Reverend
Elizabeth Butler, Ph.D., Heather Cuccia, Maria D'Alessandro, Anastasia
D'Amato, Alberta Gulotta, The Reverend DeVanie Jackson, Diana Kane,
Nella Khenkin, Pastor Amy Kienzle, Denise P. Levine, The Honorable
Katherine Levine, Violetta Livshiz, Katie Lusso, Aileen McKinnon, Kim
Moore, Tonya Ores, Frances Schwartz, Yelena Sokolin, Lola Star, Marina
Trofimov, Candace Woodward, Paurline Yeung-Ha, and Brigitte Zabbatino;
and

WHEREAS, These exceptional women are receiving this prestigious
award for their commitment, dedication, and excellence to the borough of
Brooklyn; each and every one of these remarkable women have devoted
their own life to improve the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Courier Life's Brooklyn Daily upon the occasion of hosting its
7th Annual Women of Distinction Awards and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees on June 1, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned honorees and to Courier Life's
Brooklyn Daily.
