COMMENDING Ed Pavlich upon the occasion of his
retirement after 50 years of distinguished service
to ShopRite in Middletown, New York
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Ed Pavlich upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years of
distinguished service to ShopRite in Middletown, New York, celebrated at
a luncheon held in his honor at the Dolson Avenue store on Wednesday,
June 14, 2017; and
WHEREAS, A native of Port Jervis, New York, Ed Pavlich proudly
served his country as a member of the United States armed forces during
the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, Ed Pavlich's son, Brian, followed in his footsteps and
joined the United States Army; unfortunately, he was killed in a
helicopter accident at Fort Drum in 2003, making Ed a Gold Star Father;
and
WHEREAS, After his discharge from the service, Ed Pavlich began
working at ShopRite on November 8, 1967, as a part-time frozen food
clerk; a hard worker, and well-liked by his fellow employees and
customers, he quickly rose through the ranks attaining the title of
Frozen Foods Manager, the position from which he will officially retire
in June of 2017; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Ed Pavlich has served as a
volunteer firefighter for Port Jervis Hose Co. No. 6 since the young age
of 18; he is also an active member of the Vietnam War Veterans Charter
Member 140 and the VFW Post 160; and
WHEREAS, In his much deserved retirement, Ed Pavlich plans on
spending more time with his beloved family, especially his seven
treasured grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, Ed Pavlich rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to ShopRite in Middletown, New York;
and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as frozen food manager, Ed Pavlich served
with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Ed Pavlich was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with ShopRite, Ed Pavlich earned the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ed Pavlich upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years of
distinguished service to ShopRite in Middletown, New York, and to wish
him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ed Pavlich.
