MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
September 12, 2017, as Day of Encouragement in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official days that are set aside to increase awareness of initiatives
which affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim September 12, 2017, as
Day of Encouragement in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Day of Encouragement; and

WHEREAS, National Day of Encouragement is dedicated to uplifting
people around us and making a positive impact; and

WHEREAS, National Day of Encouragement was intended for all of us to
do something to offer encouragement to those around us, whether it is
someone at work or in our personal lives; on this day, individuals
should make deliberate acts of encouragement by providing reassurance
and inspiration; and

WHEREAS, The Encouragement Foundation at Harding University in
Searcy, Arkansas, launched an effort to get Americans to participate in
this Day of Encouragement; the first proclamation for the Day of
Encouragement was made on August 22, 2007; and

WHEREAS, It is imperative to promote days in which love, acceptance,
non-violence and tolerance are observed, and to encourage all New
Yorkers to practice this simple philosophy and incorporate it into their
lifestyle; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim September 12, 2017, as
Day of Encouragement in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
