COMMEMORATING the 70th Anniversary of the New York
Association of Conservation Districts, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations which are dedicated to increasing
public awareness of, and appreciation for, the natural resources of New
York, recognizing the role all citizens have in protecting the
environment and the quality of life in this Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the New York Association of
Conservation Districts, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, The New York Association of Conservation Districts was
formed in 1947, to represent Soil and Water Conservation Districts and
voice their concerns and needs in regards to natural resource
conservation at the state and federal levels; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1958, the New York Association of
Conservation Districts, Inc. (NYACD) provides education and information
on conservation, orderly development and wise use of the state's natural
resources; and
WHEREAS, This vital non-partisan volunteer organization implements
programs which encourage proactive, cooperative alliances with others to
promote environmental stewardship and sustainability; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to natural resource management,
NYACD provides advocacy and representation of its members at the state,
regional and national levels, as well as leadership in the wise use of
soil, water and related natural resources; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the New York Association of
Conservation Districts unifies the Directors of local Soil and Water
Conservation Districts statewide, and serves as a platform for
relationships, networking, advocacy, training, and education; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 70 year history, the New York
Association of Conservation Districts has demonstrated continuous
service to the residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the New York Association of Conservation
Districts is in direct correlation to the efforts of its volunteers,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the
continuing welfare of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly
enriched and reliably served by the purposeful endeavors of
organizations and individuals who are committed to the preservation of
our natural environment and the enhancement of the appreciation of the
distinctive features of our surroundings, and to the economic well-being
of the areas in which they exist; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the New York Association of
Conservation Districts, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the New York Association of Conservation Districts, Inc.
