CONGRATULATING Sandra L. Lamb upon the occasion of
her retirement after 40 years of distinguished
service to the Sally Ploof Hunter Library in Black
River, New York
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Sandra L. Lamb upon the occasion of her retirement after 40
years of distinguished service to the Sally Ploof Hunter Library in
Black River, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Black River Library was founded in 1915 and later
became the Sally Ploof Hunter Library when William T. Hunter purchased
property and donated funds for the construction of a new library
building in Black River, in memory of his wife, Sally Ploof Hunter; and
WHEREAS, Sandra L. Lamb, a long-time resident of Black River, began
working for the library in 1975 as a part-time assistant; and
WHEREAS, In 1979 she became the library's sixth director and holds
the distinction of being its longest serving director; and
WHEREAS, Her service and dedication were recognized at an open house
held in her honor at the Sally Ploof Hunter Library on October 29, 2017;
and
WHEREAS, Sandra L. Lamb is known for her love of helping people,
especially with their educational aspirations, and for keeping the
history of the Black River area alive; and
WHEREAS, Many current library patrons fondly remember Sandra L. Lamb
as a decades long fixture, not only in the Sally Ploof Hunter Library,
but in the Village of Black River and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her 40 years of service to the Sally Ploof
Hunter library, Sandra L. Lamb served on the Carthage Central School
District Board of Education for 20 years, retiring in 2005; and
WHEREAS, Sandra L. Lamb, who dedicated her life to helping others,
is leaving a legacy of love for the library and its patrons; and
WHEREAS, Sandra L. Lamb has clearly had an enduring impact on her
fellow workers, as well as in the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedication to others;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support their communities by
providing their skills and talents to helping others; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sandra L. Lamb upon the occasion of her retirement after 40 years
of distinguished service to the Sally Ploof Hunter Library in Black
River, New York, and to wish her continued success in all her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sandra L. Lamb.
