HONORING William A. Gregory upon the occasion of
his retirement after 16 years of distinguished
service to the Canton school community
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
William A. Gregory upon the occasion of his retirement after 16 years of
distinguished service to the Canton school community on July 31, 2018;
and
WHEREAS, William A. Gregory began his illustrious career in 2001 as
a School Administrator working as a Summer School Principal at Canton
Central School; and
WHEREAS, He completed a year-long assignment as Dean of Students
with the Colton-Pierrepont Central School District and was appointed
Principal of Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton in August of 2002;
and
WHEREAS, In January of 2008, William A. Gregory was promoted to
Superintendent of the Canton Central School District, the position he
has held for the past 10 and a half years; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his career in education, William A. Gregory was an
active duty officer in the Army for 23 years and his Army career
included teaching assignments at North Carolina State and Clarkson
University; and
WHEREAS, William A. Gregory has clearly had an enduring impact on
his community and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support their communities by
providing their skills and talents to helping others; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William A. Gregory upon the occasion of his retirement after 16
years of distinguished service to the Canton school community, and to
wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William A. Gregory.
