COMMENDING Sprague & Killeen Inc. upon the
occasion of celebrating its 150th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sprague & Killeen Inc. upon the occasion of its 150th
Anniversary celebrated at an Open House on Tuesday, September 12, 2017;
and

WHEREAS, During the festivities, community members and clients
reviewed the company's Wings & Wheels for Warriors Event, which is held
each spring on Armed Forces Day; this year, significant funds were
raised for Disabled American Veterans; and

WHEREAS, For 150 years, Sprague & Killeen has provided its clients
with professional and efficient insurance service and guidance, ever
mindful of the personal commitment and values upon which it was founded;
the agency was then, and still is today, committed to small town
American values; and

WHEREAS, In 1867, Sprague & Killeen opened its doors to the public
for the first time as an independent insurance agency; over the course
of a century and a half, the company has seen major changes within the
world such as the birth and evolution of the automobile, the invention
of the airplane, man walking on the moon and the age of computers; and

WHEREAS, Today, Sprague & Killeen serves the insurance needs of more
than 5,000 individuals, families, and businesses largely in New York
State, although also in Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 150-year history, Sprague & Killeen has
grown and evolved through modern technology; the service it provides
includes a state-of-the-art computer management system for secure record
keeping, computerized rating systems which allow for quick rate
comparisons, fast claims response, and professional service by
individuals who truly care about their clients' needs; and

WHEREAS, The success of Sprague & Killeen is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its President, Dwight Coombe and its staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to

enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sprague & Killeen, Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating its
150th Anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dwight Coombe, President, Sprague & Killeen, Inc.
