MOURNING the death of Erica Garner, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Erica Garner of Brooklyn, New York, died on Saturday,
December 30, 2017, at the age of 27; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 29, 1990, Erica Garner was the daughter of Esaw
Garner Snipes and the late Eric Garner; and

WHEREAS, Erica Garner had an unwavering sense of justice and passion
for humanity; and

WHEREAS, Erica Garner's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by her father, Eric, Erica Garner is survived
by her two children, an 8-year-old daughter and a 4-month-old son; her
mother, Esaw; two sisters, two brothers, and her grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Erica Garner will be remembered as a mother, daughter,
sister and aunt with a heart bigger than the world; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Erica Garner leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Erica Garner, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Erica Garner.
