HONORING Kaylee Hernandez upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kaylee Hernandez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 20th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala, "Celebrating A Twenty Year Legacy
of Mentoring Excellence" on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy, Kaylee Hernandez is
ranked 32 of her class of 723 students, with a 96.387 GPA; an honor
student, she was one of four NFA students selected to participate in a
New York State government leadership conference; currently, she is a
participant of a program offered by the Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth
Leadership Institute; and

WHEREAS, Kaylee Hernandez loves to scuba dive in the undersea world;
after graduation, she plans to continue her education studying
environmental science with a minor in marine biology at the University
of Maine; and

WHEREAS, When she is not in school, Kaylee Hernandez enjoys
painting, drawing, and creative writing; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Kaylee Hernandez has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Kaylee Hernandez, in achieving this academic honor, may
take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kaylee Hernandez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kaylee Hernandez.
